My Project
Students will use these graphic novels to learn about trauma and healing. While students practice literacy and comprehension, students will also gain empathy and understanding to the sensitive topics that are mentioned in the book that include sexual assault, mental health, bullying, complex family dynamics and navigating identities for adolescents. Students learn in different formats, which include visual aids. These graphic novels not only tell the story but use images and drawings to display the message. Students will also create multiple art projects in relation to this book, which matches the artistic themes of this graphic novel.
