Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students I get to work beside are amazing individuals who deserve the world. I work at a Title I school, in Salt Lake City. I work with mostly ELL students who are experts at Translanguaging. We are in great need of books for our classroom that the students can get excited about.
My Project
Many of my students struggle with reading. I want to help them find the joy in reading by reading something that is not traditionally seen in most classrooms. Graphic novels are such a wonderful way to get kids into reading. The book I have chosen also is filled with life's complexities and will really get my students, to put their thinking caps on. I would love to share the love of reading with my students and I am hoping that this can be a gateway for them to enjoy other books in the future.
