My Project

My students absolutely love to read graphic novels in their free time. The novels will enhance my students learning by offering them a wider variety of novels to choose from. A graphic novel uses images—often in a comic strip style—to tell a story. With pictures or illustrations and a lot less text, graphic novels help kids practice reading. They also can help kids build positive associations with books.

Graphic novels develop and reinforce reading skills like inferencing, demonstrate punctuation and grammar rules, and explain figurative language.

My students are special education students, so these types of novels aid those with learning differences—Readers with autism can learn about emotions by observing the images on the page as they read the story.
