Graphic Novels for Middle Grades

Help me give my students beautiful, engaging, award-winning graphic novels (plus a few other crowd-pleasers I can't keep on my shelves) to entice even the most reluctant reader to get lost in a story.

My Students

My students live in a world that is fast-paced and accelerating all the time. In a competitive school/community environment of high expectations and little free time, it can be difficult to motivate students to slow down and savor learning.

My students come from a supportive community of highly motivated learners.

They are mostly good students, who strive for good grades and excellence in their extracurriculars. However, in a mostly homogenous community, they have little exposure to different worldviews and life experiences. I hope that a diverse classroom library can change that.

My Project

I currently have a small selection of graphic novels in my classroom. NOT ENOUGH! I can't keep my graphic novels on the shelves and the students are getting tired of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

I want to provide a wide variety of exciting graphic novels so that all students have a book they cannot seem to put down.

Not every student will love reading the same types of books, so providing graphic novels will go a long way in helping all students find something great - even my reluctant readers.
