My Project
Our library students LOVE graphic novels!
Graphic novels are used in many ways in our library.
Our students read graphic novels for fun, they read them if they are still learning English (pictures help!). Some read them if they are a little behind in reading skills, but wouldn't dare be caught reading a little-kid book, or they read the ones that are little-kid books, just for a break. Art students love to read them to absorb the stories as well as the fantastic art. Research shows graphic novels with their short boxes of text are great for kids with ADHD. Kids on other parts of the autism spectrum can benefit in similar ways.
Basically, graphic novels are a great addition to any library. They come in all flavors for all types of kids and our library needs more! Our selection is tired, the books are well loved/in bad shape, but the books are expensive. We could really use a refresh of newer titles!
