This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What we love most about our students is their curiosity, resilience, and eagerness to grow. Despite the challenges many of them face, such as learning English as a second language and limited access to resources at home, they come to school every day ready to learn, connect, and explore the world through stories.
Our students light up when they find a book they can relate to or understand, and that’s why this donation means so much to us.
The books we receive will be used in multiple ways:
Read-Alouds in the Library: These sessions build listening comprehension, vocabulary, and a shared love of storytelling. They also create a safe, joyful space where all students, especially English learners, can engage with rich language and diverse perspectives.
Book Checkouts: Allowing students to choose and take home books empowers them to become independent readers. With more high-interest options like graphic novels, we can better meet students at their reading level and keep them motivated.
Book Giveaways: Many of our students have few or no books at home. Giving them their own books to keep helps build home libraries, encourages family reading, and reinforces literacy skills beyond the classroom.
Each book is more than just a story; it’s a bridge to learning, confidence, and imagination. With your support, we can ensure every child in our school feels seen, supported, and inspired through the power of books.
