My Students

My students learn best with hands-on experiments and a firsthand look at things. They have a great enthusiasm for learning! We are from a Title I-funded school, so many students receive free or reduced-price lunches and come from different backgrounds.

My students come to school with an eagerness to learn.

I want to grow my students' curiosity to learn by showing them that learning can be fun. Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus series always said, "Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!" My class does this with hands-on learning and STEAM. My classroom is a fun and inviting place to learn. I have hands-on activities every day.

My goal is to introduce students to science in a fun way and inspire students to want to pursue a career in science. I also have a goal to inspire students to have a love of learning for years to come. I want to also teach my students how to show empathy and to be caring. We want to help our fellow students at our school and in our community who could be experiencing financial difficulties.

My Project

Graphic novels are what my students would like to see more of in our in class library. Graphic novels are incredibly engaging, especially for students reluctant to read. They provide extra support the kids need to help them get through and finish a text. These graphic novels , the nonfiction, science, and adventure ones will really appeal to my reluctant readers!

I am on a mission to increase fluency and literacy in my classroom and graphic novels will help me achieve this goal!

Students love reading graphic novels and need more access to these types of novels while learning in the classroom. This project will be the first step toward building a collection of graphic novels for my students to enjoy.
