Graphic Novels: an Independent Reading Access Point for Newcomers

My Project

A good classroom curriculum includes time for independent reading. We, as educators and learners, know that reading has many benefits. We need to be encouraging our students to love to read, rather than to read for educational purposes only. Only then will they become life-long learners.

For my students, newcomers beginning their journey learning English, reading is especially important.

My students need an easy access point to reading in their new language. Therefore, I would love to stock graphic novels in my classroom library. Being in high school, they can use the pictures paired with the words to acquire the vocabulary they need for academic success. Please help support their growth by supporting this project!
