Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a third year 4th grade teacher in a low income neighborhood in the South Bronx. My entire class receives free lunch. In May, the students have a moving up ceremony and go to the attached middle school. This is quite an anticipated event. I would like to enhance the 4th grade ceremony by creating and displaying a video yearbook prior to the announcement of names. This would be a great way to be able to teach the children how to use a digital camera and incorporate technology into the classroom. Technology knowledge makes a student more competitive for the workforce in today's world. With such limited resources within my school, my children have no opportunities to learn about technology that is widespread throughout the US. I would like to be able to expose my children and whet their appetite to learn more about the wonders of technology. Children need to know that they are capable in more areas than just academics. I would like to obtain one digital camera to teach the students how to record classroom moments. In addition, we would use a digital camera in conjunction with the computer and a powerpoint presentation in making a video yearbook for the moving up ceremony.
