Bright colored murals, beautiful garbs, fresh fruits and vegetables at the corner market and the smell of delicious Indian food coming from the nearby kitchen. This is the environment my students live in. Parkchester is a beautiful neighborhood that embodies the Indian culture. Unfortunately, my school is in a low-income neighborhood. Many of my students, a diverse mix of cultures too, attend a school that strives to give these eager students who are ready to learn an excellent education. Many of them are first-generation Americans and are excited to begin school!
My Project
Throughout the day my students are often moving around the classroom going to their reading or math groups. Differentiated instruction plays a big role in my classroom when you have 32 different levels/types of learners. Often times its a struggle for them to quickly get the right notebook or supplies they need and to begin their work right away.
Something as simple as book bins and reusable write and wipe pocket folders can make transitions run smooth!
These colorful bins will help the different groups know what basket is theirs. They will be able to leave their work/books in them and get to work quickly! The pocket wipes are an excellent tool they can use to not only keep the work they are currently working on, but its super engaging to write and wipe. The folders also save us copying paper when we can simply reuse them.
Help my students be not only organized but able to grab what they need and go! There's no time to waste!!!
