This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Learning about the U.S. Government is a crucial part of every growing, responsible and future young adult.

Our public-charter school offers a unique outlet for students to focus on academics in the city of Santa Ana.

We have a diverse group of students with many who come from low-income families and underdeveloped homes. They come to our school to seek an opportunity to focus on their academics, and to experience what many public schools cannot offer--smaller classroom sizes, hands-on-teaching approach from highly qualified teachers, and a focus on graduation and college.

My Project

As a first year Government teacher, I am requesting teacher lesson-planning books to help me create lessons related to Government with ideas, such as case-studies, thinking maps, and worksheets. These resources will help me better plan lessons and instructions to assist students in further understanding the subject matter. Creating lessons, worksheets, tests and projects can be time-consuming, and with the right resources, this could help me better prepare for instructions. As a result, I could focus more of my energy and time on the students who need the one-on-one assistance.

I am a first year teacher, with not many resources to start out with, let alone the finances to purchase new materials.

If my project is funded, I could use the resources to better plan my instructions, which in turn will provide better learning opportunities for my students. With the workload of grading, planning lessons, communication with parents/students and staff meetings, additional resources could help me better plan my lessons with the materials at hand.
