it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is so nice to see the Arizona Government helping out its teachers this year. I am asking for the following items to push my classroom towards a more inclusive space and one in which social and emotional learning can also take part. The first items that are on my list are two unique lamps. One is a floating moon and the other a weird looking lamp. The reason that I am requesting these items is to create a safe space and a cool down zone in my classroom. My thoughts were that if we had a area with cool lighting it might help some of my students with their social and emotional issues as it makes them feel more open and wanting to come to school. I am also asking for two Kinetic Art pieces for this same corner to create an area in which they can let their worries drift away as they find zen with a 5 minute brain break. The two wireless keyboards are so kids can work in the zen corner if they just need a little time to themselves while still participating in the classwork. The clock will allow them to monitor their time in the social and emotional learning/ zen corner. The headphone are to block out noise when in the social and emotional/ zen corner. The reason that I am requesting the tool kit is to help assemble some of the other items that I am personally trying to buy to complete this special area of my room for my kids.
I know that we don't always think of our classrooms as more than a classroom but to some students its the only safe space in their day.
