I teach 7th grade science in a low-income district in rural Mississippi. The kids I teach don't lack enthusiasm for learning, but they do lack some of the basic supplies necessary for a good education. My meager school allowance for supplies doesn't go very far.

In science class, being able to write down the information to be learned and draw the diagram to be labeled makes a world of difference in the degree of understanding that the student achieves. These kids want to know about the world around them: what they need are the supplies on which to print, write, and draw so they can learn.

I need a couple of boxes of plain white copy paper for my class. With this, we can produce all the necessary material they need to understand the process of photosynthesis, to draw a diagram of a cell, and to explain in an essay why too much exposure to the sun can damage skin. Being able to provide the materials for them, and being able to allow them to produce their own materials, solidifies the learning experience for the students. Your gift of simple white copy paper can make all the difference in the world!

I know that in these economic times, money is tight for all of us. Any help you can give to my class will be appreciated far more than you will ever know. Thank you for taking the time to read my humble proposal.
