it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When I walk through the campus at any given morning, I am greeted by students - great kids with great potential. As I open the double doors to my building, I can already see a line of kids outside my door. They are waiting patiently for me to arrive so they can print out their assignments, their essays, their projects. They get up earlier than I do sometimes, just to make sure that they have enough time to fire up both my computer and my printer in order to get their work done.
My Project
My in-class printer is a laser, with each cartridge costing almost a hundred dollars. The school provides one cartridge per year which is not enough for the number of students I serve. With a school population of 70% on the lunch program, a lot of my kids don't have a printer at home. They need this very basic of supplies in order to do well in their classes.
This new eco printer can print 8,000 copies on one bottle of ink!
What is even more impressive is that one ink bottle only costs $11.00. You can imagine what a help this will be to both my students and myself.
My students will be able to use the printer to print their essays so they can engage in peer editing in the classroom. They can print their PowerPoint slides so they can get ready for their presentations. They can print elements for their projects, whether it be a graph for evidence or an artwork they created from Photoshop about a literary character. What a great tool to help them in their academic progress!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
