My Students

We do not have a gym at our school and very little covered area outside. So when it rains or it is too cold we are forced to keep the students inside in their very packed classrooms for PE! Often times we are inside from Thanksgiving break until Mardi Gras because of the weather.

I teach Pre-K through 1st grade students at a Title 1 school, everyday for 30 minutes, two classes at a time.

We have a wide range of students from many different socio-economic statuses. For many of my students, school is the only place they get an opportunity to play games, much less learn how to get along and play with someone else.

My Project

If this project is funded I will have an activity that will not only encourage teamwork, social skills and cooperation, but will also challenge the students to use both sides of their brain while also being physically active. With this project I will be able to divide the class into teams and they will work together to try to put their puzzle together before I rotate the groups to a new puzzle. This activity will be an excellent teaching tool for learning how to work together, which in my opinion is one of the most important life skills a child can have.

Help keep my students ACTIVE on those days when I am forced to keep them inside!
