This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom are active learners. They are very independent workers. Most come from lower economic homes in San Jose, CA and have very few resources at their disposal. I also have a lot of students who are bilingual, and English is their second language.
Students in my classroom are thinkers and problem solvers.
They dive into all areas of the curriculum and read about it, explore it, question it, and develop a good understanding of the subject or topic we are learning about. We are in an open pod school pod with 3 other classes.
My Project
My students love to read books. The problem is my classroom library is in need of new chapter books. The books I have in my class library are well-loved and starting to fall apart. I need to replace some of these books. My students love to read Goosebumps, Amulet, and Nate the Great Books and I do not have very many of these books. I a looking to add more of these books to my classroom library. These books will allow my students to read books they are interested in reading to help foster reading development and enjoyment.
