Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in a hard-working, rural community and educates Pre-K through 8th Grade students. The majority of them live in an area of high poverty, as nearly 75% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. In addition, 48% speak English as a second language.

Our desire is to give our new junior high students the opportunity to grow athletically through competitive sports.

We are launching our new sports program with basketball, but we need your help to make this dream a reality. There are some very gifted athletes waiting for a chance to showcase their skills, and there's a small village in central Louisiana ready to rally around them.

My Project

Last year, our school added 7th Grade students, and this year we added 8th Grade. Now we are officially a junior high school, and we want to give our students the full, middle school experience they deserve. Our desire is to offer them a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including a multi-faceted athletic program. The faculty and staff at our school are committed to making this happen.

The equipment I am requesting will play an intricate part in making our sports dream a reality.

With the addition of adequate basketballs, our athletes will be able to practice their shooting, passing, and dribbling with the size ball they need. (I have also included 2 game balls for both boys and girls to utilize in league and tournament play.) The ball racks will allow us to store the new basketballs appropriately, as to prevent displacement and deflation. The whistles and coaching boards will allow my fellow coaches and I to train our players with more precision and excellence. Lastly, the traction and backboard pads will serve to give our athletes an effective and safe environment to learn and master their skills in.

Our students are excited and ready to embrace this new beginning, and we all greatly appreciate your generosity. Thank you so much for investing in the future of our community. Great days are ahead!
