Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Under-funded inner city school wants to have some raucous fun with Boomwhackers! These elementary students are bright, inquisitive, and adorable, but unfortunately, very under-privileged.

Being an inner-city school, we are very under-funded. We are trying to build up a music program, and we need supplies! These little hands are CRAVING things to play.

These Boomwhackers are the perfect opportunity for kids to learn the basics of music - rhythm and melody. They are long, colorful, pitched tubes that can be played by hitting them on the floor. This creates the sound. Students can work together to create songs using these tubes. Caps can be added, which drop the pitch one whole octave; they also provide stability so they will last a lot longer. I have also requested a curriculum book, which contains songs that the students can work on together. Great team-building. Here is an opportunity to "whack" something, and not get in trouble for it! This is educational fun at its best!
