My Project

As the school librarian at an alternative high school, many of our students come to school each day looking to have some of their basic needs met. As educators, we know that if a student's basic needs aren't met, or they don't feel safe, learning is going to be the furthest thing from their mind.

I plan to use the requested materials to provide a space within the school library that will allow students to come and decompress when they are feeling overwhelmed and just need a safe, quiet, and calm space to regulate themselves.

Items like puzzles, games, books, and coloring sheets will provide students with a variety of choices to help them destress, calm down, and hopefully help them get to a place where they can get back to their classrooms to get some learning done.
