My Students

Glass is the epitome of what Donald Trump means when he says, "Get going. Move forward. Aim High. Plan a takeoff. Don't just sit on the runway and hope someone will come along and push the airplane...Change your attitude and gain some altitude. Believe me, you'll love it up here."

My students are 9th through 12th grade science and technology explorers, both face-to-face and online.

My face-to-face students attend school in a small, rural area. Most of my students are sons and daughters of ranchers. They are hardworking, dedicated, and curious about the world around them. They love enhancing their learning with new technology and experiencing the newest technology trends. They are fairly tech savvy as they are 1:1 with laptops and do science in a blended-gamified learning environment. My online students come from all across Montana and interact exclusively online with their peers.

My Project

Did your science class use technology to help motivate you to love learning science? If not, here's your chance to make it happen for my 9th grade earth science, 10th-12th grade astronomy, 12th grade physics, and an online oceanography course to land-locked students. A huge part of teaching science is exposing students to technology and helping them apply its uses to learning. That's why I applied to be a Google Glass Explorer. Now that I've been accepted I need help making this a reality for my face-to-face and online students! Google glass has amazing educational advantages, from teacher/student led webinars, video demonstrations on proper lab technique/safety prior to lab activities, virtual field trips and exposure to places that not all students could attend, real-time physics video data displayed for all to see, and students sharing scientific thinking in first person (verbally and visually) while conducting experiments.

Students love new technology.

It excites and motivates them when it is used to enhance their learning. Donations for the project would allow my students to experience and learn this upcoming technology, and learn how to use it for learning's sake. The device will also help those students who need differentiated practices due to their learning styles.
