My Students
Challenge our brains! Prepare us for the unknown future. Enable us to use technology as a tool to personalize our learning in our third grade classroom and reinforce our 21st century skills. Nurture our problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking through the use of Chromebooks and Google apps.
My students are hands-on learners.
They are engaged when they have opportunities to produce and create. I would like their technology to be more learner driven, which is possible through the use of technologies. Within our district, several other classrooms have started to utilize Chromebooks and Google apps to enhance student learning. However, our school, and in particular our classroom would be thrilled with the opportunity for all students to utilize this unique tool which personalizes student learning, a critical component in our global society.
My Project
Chromebooks are a vehicle for moving our students toward a learner driven model of learning. We currently utilize Google Apps for education, so students are familiar with Google Drive. I would like students to be able to blog daily about their responses to reading, comment appropriately on each others' blog posts, and collaborate in real time using Google Docs. Students will become more responsible digital citizens by exhibiting appropriate etiquette with their on-line collaboration with others. By having access to the Google Apps account, students would be able to easily link to Easybib in order for them to cite sources appropriately and give credit for the work they discover. Through this process, third graders will become more responsible digital citizens.
We are preparing for jobs that are NOT even created at this moment.
We need to teach them how to use technology as a tool to leverage their problem-solving and innovative ideas. Truly, student learning isn't always about what they know, but what students DO with what they know. Students need to be prepared for the global society and all of the networking and innovation that is intertwined.
