This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I absolutely love teaching preteens! Currently, I am teaching Math and Science to two sections of sixth graders in an urban school district.
In each section, there are 35 students.
Both classes include a mixture of Special Education students and English language learners (ELL) students.
The range of math abilities amongst my 70 students vary from Kindergarten to 6th grade. Many of my ELL students come directly from countries such as Haiti, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Canada, and Africa. It is rewarding to see the growth in all of my students from the first day of school to the very last day. It can be a challenge to meet the needs (both educational and social) of my students every year but it is a challenge that I welcome!
My Project
Math is everywhere! Many middle school children dislike math because they lack some of the basic foundational skills like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Sixth grade is the year that students put it all together and if they do not have the basics mastered, they will struggle.
Help me make math more engaging by purchasing the Middle School Math Game Collection for our classroom.
The Math Game Collection includes 14 fast-paced, yet exciting math games that will be used during blended learning to reinforce concepts that I've taught or they have previously learned. It will keep them focused and engaged!
