Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our middle school band program is 9 years old and continuing to build. We now have an established band program but require financial support to continue what we started. Our school is located 7 miles from downtown Houston. We are asking for help in continuing to offer a quality band program to this community, one “in tune” with successful band programs in surrounding school districts especially the programs in more affluent areas. Every child deserves the opportunity to a quality music education and to be a part of a quality band program.
My Project
With recent floods, school funds are especially tight. Good saxophone reeds are vital to producing a great sound. We teach our students to work for a true characteristic tone each and every time. This is only possible with a good reed on the instrument. How frustrating is it to try your best to be successful but not have the right tools to do the job. A good reed makes all the difference in the world. Success makes practicing fun. Success promotes practice. Good practice habits teach a great work ethic and responsibility. Characteristics they will take with them into adulthood. Your contribution can make a real difference.
