My Students

I teach gifted fifth and sixth graders at a Chicago Public School. Like all teachers, students and their families, we want a safe in-school environment during the Covid-19 pandemic.

I have an eight hundred square-foot classroom with up to thirty-six people in it at a time.

With an air purifier rated for a small bedroom, no larger than five hundred square-feet, I am looking for an air quality monitor as well as an additional air purifier to help ensure the safety of my room.

My Project

The air purifier in my classroom is insufficient for the size and number of people in my room. I would like to get an additional purifier in order to reduce the possibility of the spread of Coronavirus, as well as other common communicable diseases like flu and strep throat.

My students are too young to be vaccinated, and many of them are concerned about their health and the health of their families.

For this reason, I would also like an air quality monitor so that I can assess whether the purifiers are enough, and take action when the air is too stagnant.

While I am fortunate that everyone in the school wears masks, I want to ensure that I am doing the best for my students' health and safety.
