Organization is the key to success! We need to organize our leveled library so children can find their "just right" book! We also need to add books to our leveled library so there are plenty of books to go around!
In our classroom we have 19 students this year.
There are 9 boys and 10 girls. Our school is in a very small town of approximately 2,000. In first grade reading is an all important subject we work hard on all year! We spend at least 90 minutes a day on reading. By the end of first grade, we always hope the children have developed a love of reading that will carry them through the rest of their lives.
My Project
With new leveled books and an organizer we will be able to find "just right" books easier! It is important when learning to read that children have books at their disposal that are just right for them. Not too hard and not too easy!
With this organizer the children will be able to know which color tub to go to pick out books that are right for them.
Read!
Read! Read! That is so important at this age. The more the children read the more fluent they become. The bigger the selection of reading materials, the more interests you cover. If the child is interested in the subject, they are more likely to pick up that book and read it.
