My Students

My students are fun, outgoing, and love to learn. They enjoy learning new things each and every day.

I have an amazing group of first graders.

Students come to school each day eager to try and learn new things. I teach at a Title I school with a high poverty index. A lot of our students do not have the best home lives, so our school is their security and they count on us every day.

We are also a school of the arts. This means we have Drama, Dance, Music, P.E., and Art as their specials. We incorporate all of these elements into our lesson plans. Watching the students learn using these elements is so amazing.

My Project

I am always looking to help student engagement and let them be creative. When students come to school, they unpack and then begin morning work. I normally have students work on a math or a reading spiral review. I am wanting to change the way I do morning work. I want to bring in morning tubs for my morning work. I know I do not like getting started right away with work and I know my students do not either. I am wanting them to use their hands and imagination. My morning tubs will provide my students with collaborative learning that is exciting and engaging.

I'm requesting a variety of hands-on materials and activities including Skoolzy Pattern Peg Board Stacking Toys, Fat Brain Toys Squigz Toobz, VIAHART Brain Flakes 500 Piece Interlocking Plastic Disc, Play-Doh and other hands-on materials.

Students will begin each day by using their hands to create and explore many activities that focus on a variety of skills: literacy (reading, writing, phonics), math, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

Morning Tubs can accommodate different learning styles while having fun. I can't wait to to implement morning tubs for my students.
