My Project
I am a LifeSkills Counselor working as a school community partner providing LifeSkills program within an inner-city public-school students. Some of our students are traveling by public transportation outside of their zone school. Some of our students are faced with various challenges before coming to school. Many of our students really didn't have an opportunity to get to school on time to receive breakfast. However, in spite of the distance they have to travel they are focused, eager to learn and willing to work hard to reaching their personal goals in life.
The LifeSkill groups sessions contains 7 units.
Some of the unit discussions consist of: The Value of Good Health, Decision-making for Health, Risk-Taking and Substance Abuse, The Media and Health, Managing Stress, Anger, and Other Emotions, Family Communications and Health Relationships. The skills and techniques shared in the Life Skills program such as making healthy decisions about life situations.
The overall purpose of the program is to provide students with value skills to enhance their personal growth and development.
