My Students
Most people do not have fond memories of learning grammar in school. The thick English textbooks, the endless dittos, the circling of nouns, and correcting of punctuation. What if there was a fun way to teach grammar?
I teach a class of 18 wonderful first and second grade students.
They amaze me every day with their warmth, energy, and love of learning. We are at a Montessori school, where the curriculum is mostly hands-on, with minimal usage of textbooks and photocopies. While the teachers make most of the activities, especially grammar lessons, there are some really beautiful and exciting extension activities out there.
My Project
The materials I have requested are all kinds of fun activities that correspond to some favorite children's books. Students will be able to manipulate and match attractive pictures and words focusing on adverbs, adjectives, and prepositions. My goal is to give my students a solid foundation in grammar, which is what they will need in order to function in our literate society. These are skills that they will use for college essays, resumes, and business correspondence.
Your donation will help me to teach grammar in an enjoyable way.
At the same time, the students will be able to absorb, integrate, and finally use the information for a lifetime. Thank you so much for reading!
