My Students
I am a teacher in a high poverty school. Many of my students are being raised by single parents or struggling families. The students I teach are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Not only are my students faced with poverty, but they also have special needs. I am looking to provide them with creative, yet meaningful experiences.
My students are energetic, creative, and spontaneous.
They deserve to receive love and lots of positive attention. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their abilities and potential. I want them to experience life and have some of the opportunities they may not be afforded in their everyday lives. I want to do this in a creative and positive way. My focus is to inspire learners of all abilities to believe they can achieve what they dream.
My Project
We have extreme poverty in our school. The meals they get at school may be the only ones they get. We have a program called the backpack club and we provide food for students who might otherwise go hungry due to homelessness or parents who are away from home working.
Good food for nourishment is what we try to provide our most needy students.
We provide crackers, soups, and other easy to prepare items so our students can fix them easily and independently. Without support through Donors Choose our kids have less to eat. Kids can't learn when they are hungry. We want to provide healthy choices for these extremely needy kids.
