My Students
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and many face struggles and challenges on a daily basis. Included in their daily challenges are often times financial struggles. All of my students receive a free breakfast and lunch every school day. My goal is to make the classroom a fun and welcoming environment where they can learn and grow regardless of what goes on outside of school. Even with what these kids face on a daily basis, they come to school with a positive outlook and a love for learning!
With the income restrictions placed on some of the families that I serve, many of my students do not have access to supplies to help them thrive.
My kids love to play, read, move, and everything else that your average elementary student does in a day. I cannot control what goes on outside of my classroom, but I take pride in what goes on inside of it. I want to make sure that my students strive and that they have what they need to be successful and continue their love of learning.
My Project
I am writing this project to give my students the opportunity to have good clean fun. I am requesting outside and inside games for recess time. I am asking for basketballs, footballs, and soccer balls for students to use to get energy out during recess. We play on a blacktop, so these will allow them to run and play while interacting with their peers. I am also requesting two fold up soccer goals. These will be used daily by students who wish to play a game of soccer. For the not so athletic students, I am requesting hula hoops and jump ropes. This way, everyone will have things to play with during their unstructured time.
Unstructured play is so important for students to remain physically and mentally healthy.
For the clean part of this clean fun, I am requesting Clorox wipes. Students come with lots of love, as well as lots of germs. This time of year, students are sharing lots of the latter. These disinfecting wipes will allow me to keep my classroom clean and healthy for everyone.
