My Students
There is no sweeter sound than hearing your students say, "This is fun!" Fourth grade is an especially difficult year with subject matter. This school year I will work with fourth grade students and will be teaching all subjects.
I work in a rural school Title I school that serves students in grades 3-5.
Title I means that many of our students come from low income families. Our school and our community are very supportive of the education of our youth. It is not only our goal to make sure that students understand the subject matter, but to prepare them for a lifetime of learning and growing. We are "Anchored in Excellence."
My Project
Technology is at an all time high all over the U.S. - especially in our schools. Children are learning to use technology at an early age and it quickly becomes second nature to them. Why shouldn't teachers use this to an advantage?
Google Classroom is the perfect supplement to add to my classroom this year.
Google Classroom is an online "classroom" where teachers can post assignments, videos, reviews, and more for their students to complete. Students use their Google accounts to log in and complete the assignments in the virtual classroom. Teachers can be immediate feedback and even grade the assignments right there in Google Classroom! Awesome, right?!
This is where the Chromebooks come in. Our school is lacking in technology. Each classroom comes with 3-4 desktop computers. When testing is not in place, we occasionally have an extra Chromebook to use in the classroom. Two extra Chromebooks being available to my students at all times would make using Google Classroom that much easier. We could have a technology station where students are able to log on in small groups and use the virtual classroom.
Our school has a high ELL population; most of which are in our ESOL program. Their limited English can sometimes be a barrier when it comes to learning. Technology in the classroom can supplement their learning by providing extra opportunities to practice their skills. Online programs and educational games could help them further their understanding and help them be more successful in the classroom.
