My students need literature resources to support our new science standards.

My Students
I teach 2nd grade at an academy in Idaho. Families pursue our school based on our emphasis in STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The students in my classroom are very passionate about science and inquiry based learning.
By nature, they are hands-on learners--always wondering and investigating the world around them!
It is important to keep them continually questioning their environment, asking questions, seeking out answers, and sharing the new knowledge they acquire through a process we call "The WISE Way."
My Project
Our school is transitioning to the Next Generation Science Standards, and my 2nd graders need literature resources to support Earth science. The topics of weathering and erosion are very heavily emphasized; however, we do not have any books or leveled readers from which to guide our instruction.
My hope is to have class sets of weathering/erosion, geography, earthquake, and volcano books for students to investigate and gather research in order to support their project based learning!
These book are both non-fiction and fiction texts, and are an appropriate reading level for 2nd graders. They are also written in a highly engaging manner for STEM students!
