Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having treats and snacks can impact a student's learning because they are more likely to focus and complete activities. Having an empty stomach causes them to be grumpy or feel down and have no energy. Snacks and treats can help increase and shape their engagement in learning. During class, students set goals whether short-term or long-term that they want to accomplish and reach. Having games and prizes that can be handed out once they have reached their goal will motivate them to continue their good work.

My goal is for students who are ELL to feel comfortable and know that everything is possible even when it takes time to accomplish.

Having to learn a new language is stressful and overwhelming which can cause lack of focus and motivation in class, therefore having resources that can enhance their positive mindset and learning is very helpful. Being able to provide rewards like Play-Doh and treats is a great way to show them that they are doing their best and not to give up. Having fruit snacks, cookies, granola bars, and candy are great forms of rewards that help them engage better in class. Kanoodle and Rubik's cubes are great resources for class as they help students develop critical thinking skills that require patience, focus, and resilience. Having an organizer to organize treats and snacks will help students become organized from the beginning and know how to use their time efficiently.

My students are special because they're smart and have the enthusiasm to learn a new language. Knowing they have that support to accomplish their goals creates a growth mindset.
