My Students

I am the Library Media Specialist at a K-6 Elementary. I have the privilege of teaching the same students for 6 years. Our school is family and student driven. Our students are active, kind, talented, and curious. They love to read, be independent and have opportunities to make their own choices. Our library is a place where all grades interact and engage at different levels. It is amazing to see the 6th-grade students connect with the Kindergarten students.

They are very active students who love hands-on activities allowing them to move while learning.

STEM projects are a new experience for many of my students and I strive to make it a creative, fun, and engaging learning environment for all grades.

My Project

Our library is brand new and has lots of amazing things happening in it. It has sliding doors opening to the hallways, along with a drop-down screen, sound system and cubbies for students to read in. Most importantly, it has students who are excited to read and learn. The one thing that is missing is the technology.

I want to bring our library to life by providing a self-checkout station for students to become more independent and be able to utilize the library more often.

Having three iPads would greatly bring 21st-century skill into our 21st-century facility. We would be able to bring our ideas to life by using a green screen app, robots, Osmos and read digital books. Having iPads would provide something for every student in our building!
