This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are struggling to keep up with new common core standards that ask them to use technology. Why are they struggling? Due to the lack of up to date computers. Our classroom computers do not adequately run programs we want to use.
My students are 24 second graders who come to school eager to learn every day.
I try to empower them with technology skills that will help them become independent learners. My students are active and curious and have many "wonderings" of the world. They enjoy using computers for research and to create projects collaboratively. Our school is located in a low-income community where all of our students qualify for free-lunch.
My Project
With these chromebooks my students will be able to go online and work collaboratively in writing, social studies, and math using Google Docs. They will explore the world in Google Earth and create a story of their journey. They will also learn how to use other Google apps that will help them meet the rigorous common core standards.
Your donations to this project will improve our classroom by providing us an opportunity to have adequate access to online resources.
It will cut down on wait time and students being frustrated because their stories or work were not saved. Thanks to your help my students will be able to work independently and collaboratively as they create presentations and work on projects. Most importantly they will feel like they have accomplished something when they are able to complete an assignment.
