This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is a K-8th grade public elementary school in a large urban Midwestern district. 100% of our students are Latino, and all of them come from low income families. Like many schools, we have limited resources, 100% of our students are low and reduced income students. They come from a gang driven area. They battle not only with gang violence but also struggle with an unstable home life. Battling all of these challenges, my students are enthusiastic learners. They love learning new knowledge, and enjoy inquiry based learning.

They come into my classroom wanting a way out, a way to better themselves, a way to change a repeated cycle of gang violence within the neighborhood.

They come in motivated to learn and become enthusiastic when they learn new concepts. They are leaders and deserve the best. Even though their neighborhood is filled with gang crime, they are motivated to achieve the best.

My Project

These materials will heavily impact my students when conducting hands-on science lab. They need these goggles when conducting Sepup labs. They also need a safe storage place to sanitize goggles after wearing them. Goggles are a must in a science laboratory and my students are in dire need of them. My students currently share goggles and take turns when analyzing their investigations. My students will finally be able to not only see a demonstration but finally now investigate in the lab. Students need these goggles to help them when conducting lab experiments.

It is a must in a laboratory to have safety goggles to go beyond only demonstrating the experiment, but having students investigate in the learning process.

The more students are engaged, the more students learning level for the content will become increased.
