My students need soccer goals so they can leave their backpacks out of the soccer games.

My Students
Where there's a will, there's a way! Every day for recess, no matter the temperature, our third through fifth graders transform a patch of dirt into an intense and exciting soccer game. Four unlucky students use their backpacks to set up goal boundaries so the game can begin!
"How can we raise money for goals, Miss Walker?" Arturo, a fourth grader, asked me.
Wow! He knows that our resources are limited, but our creativity isn't. These students work hard in class and play hard at recess. We are a rural, public school with a free and reduced lunch rate of 88%. Though some great challenges face us as teachers and students, working together is how we get the job done.
My Project
We do not have a PE teacher anymore due to budget cuts so recess has become very important to getting our kids to be active. Having actual soccer goals with nets will help reduce arguing over scoring, giving them more time to play and keep a few backpacks intact!
Providing a goal for our students lets them know we don't just care about them academically, but that their free-time is important too.
Having soccer goals and nets will improve our playground and the students' play time!
