My Project

My preschool students are working to improve their communication skills through play-based speech-language therapy. Vehicles are one of the most popular and interactive activities chosen in my therapy sessions.

Vehicles provide many opportunities for improving speech and language skills.

The children use verbal language, sign language, and pictures to communicate. With these materials, my students will work on using language to request, comment, and respond. They will make environmental sounds as they play. They will take turns. The students will work on following directions and spatial concepts. Who, what, where, and yes/no questions are other possible areas to target. Vocabulary skills, pragmatic language, syntax, and semantic skills can also be worked on with vehicles.
