This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a happy and busy combo of TK and kindergarteners. Though they are only between the ages of four and six, these students have big ideas about our world. They are motivated, capable, curious, and love learning.
They like to move, read, play, and love lots of positive attention.
From the moment they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue to question the world around them and become empowered in their own voice to make a difference in the community.
My Project
Just as most young people do, our 5th graders love recess! They often say it's their favorite part of the day! However, our playground only has one structure with lots of people. Not to mention, it is not always accessible for all students with various physical needs.
New recess equipment would give our students more options to have fun and learn important social skills while choosing safe and exciting stations!
Jump ropes, balls, sidewalk chalk, sports equipment, and easy organization for stations will brighten their recess time and help keep everyone happy! In addition to just being fun to play with, this equipment will help motor skill development and social skills. What a great addition to our outside play this would be for our 200+ elementary students!
