My students need STEM kits and ideas for STEM projects in class.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. D.'s classroom raised $765
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are always eager to learn. Many are students who speak anywhere from no English to a good understanding of the English and usually speak another language primarily.
The neighborhood is economically and culturally diverse but some families are at a financial and social disadvantage.
My students do not have many opportunities outside the classroom and love learning through hands on projects during science.
I know coding is the future for our children and I would love to give them the advantage.
My Project
The students will have hands on experience while investigating big ideas. They can go green using wind and solar power! Use green products like potatoes and lemons for power! Even creating robots to solve problems. Kits such as recycled paper beads and cleaning water will be used. The kits we are using are by Rube Goldberg. Along with being a scientist, he was also an artist! We will collaborate with the art teacher, using books from donors choose and others to study and recreate his art. We will also see how the art ties into the science projects.
How exciting it will be to see my future engineers, so eager to learn, create working projects and robots that solve real life problems.
The students will finally be able to think outside the box and create using math, ela and science skills along with imagination and creativity. They will further social skills and language development too.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
