My Project
Because I service students with disabilities, my main responsibility is to address the needs of the "whole child" and treat every student holistically. My students come with varying needs, and over 95% belong to impoverished homes. Their diverse cultures, needs, and experiences mean that one size does not fit all.
Currently, the capacity of my school's budget has been limited, and non-core subjects materials are paid for out-of-pocket.
I take an active role in my students' lives and also facilitate our teachers' needs. I teach and visit classrooms daily and give presentations that build character and educate the students about hygiene, core values, and social behavior.
I serve students in a school where over 90% of our students receive free or reduced lunch and our school is located in a low-income area, my students and our staff struggle with getting current technological equipment.
I would love to be able to have a laptop that is current, and updated, with a new battery that can keep up with the energy of our 21st-century students. We will use the laptop with reading and language arts apps that will allow students to improve their reading comprehension skills. I will also use this device to have my students create vocabulary/fluency cards and printouts.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
