This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In an age of high powered computers, iPads, smartphones and sophisticated calculators, my students need to be prepared for it all!

My students hail from all over Washington, DC.

They are an inquisitive group who enjoy learning new things and using technology. So far this school year, they have challenged themselves to learn space science and chemistry and are ready to push into physics concepts!

My Project

The unit we will begin in a couple months will enable students to create their own toy cars out of Legos and race their car against other original car designs in the class. Students will take the role of a Building Instruction Designer. They will also be responsible for testing their cars and writing up specifications. The Go! Motion Detectors by Vernier will enable the students to have a wider range of data to share and analyze about their project!

These motion detectors will enable my students of all academic levels to have robust data collection.

Students will make use of current technology in the classroom paired with this donation and begin to have an idea of how 21st century data collection can look!
