This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This class works on basic fiber arts - weaving, embroidery, crochet, felting and fabric resist. Students work on making a plan, sketching out their ideas, executing their plan, and critiquing/discussing their final artwork. Students often come to the class with little to no art experience, and without the vocabulary to discuss fiber arts. Once students learn basic techniques, they are able to apply their skills to larger and more complex projects.
For this project, students will design in multiple layers, using glue as a resist medium.
Similar to batik, this project takes up less space and avoids the heat aspect of batik.
