My Project
The art supplies I am requesting will make my students' dreams come true because they have been asking to do a sculpting project and I could not afford to buy the supplies myself. Upon hearing how much my students wanted to sculpt, I decided to create a lesson that had to do with life in the sea. This lesson will help teach my students, that everything in the ocean is interconnected and how the Ocean's Trophic Pyramid works. My goal is to have my students create sculptures and artworks that will glow under a backlight, so we can have a Glow in the Dark art show. After going over the lesson with my students, I will have them research various Bioluminescent creatures, and first create backlight posters of a sea creature they have chosen to draw, then after we finish that part of the lesson, my students will use the plastered paper and instant paper-mâché to sculpt varies other sea creatures and plant life, which will then be painted with neon colored paints.. I believe this project will be very challenging for my students, yet very motivating for my students. I can't wait to see my students faces when I spring this lesson on them. They will be ecstatic.
