Help me give my students shrink paper, glow in the dark paint, tiles, dinosaur eggs, a crystal growing kit, and backlights to make our science experiements glow.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Transitional Kindergarteners are curious, hands-on learners. They are curious about the world and how things move, change, and work. Science experiments are the perfect activity to help spark their imaginations and get them to ask questions and think about the why behind the actions and reactions that they observe in the world around them.
Your donation to this project will help the transitional kindergarteners explore how crystals grow, how paleontologists excavate fossils, how ink transfer works, why pop rocks pop, why plastic shrinks when heated, and how some materials glow in the dark.
What's better than growing a crystal? Growing a crystal that glows in the dark! The students will be amazed seeing all the details of their jumbo, glowing crystal with the lights off, or the blacklight on! This crystal growing kit will be unforgettable STEM experience! Next, students will embark on an epic paleontological adventure with the glow in the dark Digging Egg Set. Moving on to chemical reactions, students will explore image transfer by transferring the paintings they make with the glow in the dark paint onto ceramic tiles and sealing the image with Mod Podge. They will discover how carbon dioxide is released to make pop rocks pop, how polymers change their configuration for plastic to shrink when heated, and how phosphors make objects glow in the dark and illuminate under the blacklight.
These hands on science explorations are sure to spark the student's scientific curiosity and inspire them to explore their world through questioning, investigating, and experimenting--like all scientists do.
