I have a class of twenty-two inquisitive, curious, and energetic 3rd and 4th graders who love to learn and be with their classroom family. My students are innovators and thrive in a rich energetic atmosphere. They are very hands-on and love working collaboratively in the classroom.
We are a Title I school and 49% of our students are on free or reduced lunch.
My students have a wide variety of interests and passions which I want to utilize in my lessons and projects. I’m always looking for more fun and innovative ways to hook my students and classroom transformations would be an amazing opportunity to prepare my class for the end of year and state testing! Funding this project would allow my students to be even more engaged and motivated to complete rigorous tasks and to problem solve.
My Project
My students work hard to learn and practice challenging third and fourth grade skills and it is my job to make their learning engaging and meaningful. Classroom transformations are an amazing way to engage students in learning material that can be otherwise uninteresting or dull. The room transformation created from this project and with these supplies will include a "Glow Day" for reviewing both math and language arts skills as we get set for end of the year testing and our state testing as well.
Creating a room transformation is one of the ways I hope to excite my students with learning and also help them master concepts in both math and language arts thru this engaging, exciting and authentic set up!
"Glow Day" will be a full day of reviewing reading, language arts, and math skills while wearing glow bracelets and necklaces and being immersed in a "glow room" with black lights. Students will use highlighters to answer questions, tic-tac-toe boards to review math skills, and other fun activities. I can't wait to see how excited and engaged my students are after they come through the door on this first day of setting the stage for learning! This room transformation will not only be a surprise for my student, but leave a lasting memory connected with their education.
