This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach Science to 3rd-5th grades. We use disposable gloves constantly while doing experiments and while cleaning up the lab before and after classes begin. Recently my students did an owl pellet dissection to help them better understand the food chain. Although the owl pellets were sterilized and heated, I still wanted all students to use gloves throughout the dissection. I used 2 boxes of gloves in one week while doing this activity with my students.
Since I use gloves so often in the Science lab, I run out of gloves consistently and then I need to ask the custodial staff for gloves for the Science lab.
However, sometimes they cannot give me gloves because their stock supply of disposable gloves is limited.
We need many boxes of disposable gloves since I use gloves daily. I also service 8 classes. Each of these classes has 25-32 students. I can use two boxes of gloves in one week.
