Gloves for My Players

Help me give my students baseball gloves they can use to practice and play games with.

My Students

In a school of 1200 students, 850 of which are female, finding boys with a passion for baseball isn't the easiest. For the ones that are interested, finding sufficient equipment is the next challenge. With no funding from the state and many of the students coming from lower socioeconomic homes, we are forced to fundraise in order to get simple luxuries like team helmets and team bats.

Not only do we compete; we thrive.

On a field shared with 4 other teams, forced to sprint after school in order to play on the infield, we are able to thrive. Even though the field we are sprinting to does not have a mound, or any grass in the infield, or even a drainage system, with the uneven dirt dipping into the middle, we are able to thrive.

We have made the playoffs five years in a row, and are a few years removed from being in the semi-finals all due to the strength and resilience of the players. In a school so highly ranked for its academic success, we are still able to thrive.

My Project

Many of our players are new to the game of baseball and require basic equipment to learn and play the game. At times, some of our players share baseball gloves in order to simply play catch and work on defensive skills. A lot of our players come from lower socioeconomic homes and the idea of buying a new glove to use is not possible.

This project will allow new players on the team now and future players an opportunity to use their own glove during practices and games.

Our players are very dedicated and have the tools to be successful in baseball, now it's time to provide them with gloves to enhance their throwing and catching abilities.
