This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a fantastic group of 17 PreK students who enjoy attending daily Zoom class. Everyday they are excited to see their friends and they can't wait to share details about their favorite family activity or toy. Owing their own books will add to their enthusiasm.
My Project
During our daily Zoom class, I read many books to students using Google slides. Although they are engaged and enjoy the illustrations an actual book to hold would be more impactful.
I believe that holding a book in their own hands will allow for additional curiosity and comprehension of the text.
In addition, when we discuss the text they are limited to the slide that they are shown. If they are able to flip the pages on the own this will give them ownership of the task and facilitate their understanding of the story.
