My students are really enjoying learning to play their first barred instruments, the glockenspiels. Many of our mallets have seen better days and come in a variety of materials. It will be wonderful to have matching mallets producing matching tone quality.
Glockenspiels are a great way to add a new layer to performance.
Students are enjoying the bright sound. They are also having wonderful discussions about how sound is created. Just this week, we created a four-part piece including recorders, bass xylophone, glockenspiels, and shakers. The students were so proud of what they produced!
Our music program is in a rebuilding time. While my students learned a lot about music in the last few years, my goal coming into this school was to guide them in learning how to make music together. We've focused on hands-on learning and the students are excited to come to music. It's been a joy to watch them grow this year.
Thank you for considering making a gift to our music room! These mallets will reach almost 300 students this year and hundreds more in the future.
